The Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF) will be receiving the Typhoon advanced multi-role combat aircraft and Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft with deliveries of these aircraft in the forthcoming years. The programme involves collaboration between the UK Government, the Royal Air Force, BAE Systems, MBDA and Qatari customers and partners.


We are now recruiting for personnel to work in various disciplines in support of these aircraft and be involved in 

an extremely exciting and new programme.

The roles

We're currently recruiting for Typhoon and Hawk mechanical, avionics, electrical, weapons, propulsion, egress, AGE technicians and other aircraft support roles in Qatar.


Experience: 

  • Typhoon, Hawk, Tornado PC21 or other Fast Jet aircraft.
  • Candidates with rotary, production or commercial aircraft experience may be also be considered.

Successful candidates will need to be eligible for a visa to live and work in Qatar.


Please note:

These roles are due to start from the first quarter of 2021 through to the first quarter 2022, it should be noted however that this could change, and the timescales could potentially move to an earlier date.  

  • You will be entitled to a competitive salary, your initial deployment flight out to Qatar and a return flight home on termination from the role.

  • On entry into Qatar, you will receive accommodation for the first 30 - 45 days in country whilst you seek your own accommodation to continue in your role. 
  • A gratuity bonus (equivalent of 21 days salary per year) is accumulated for every year spent in Qatar, payable at the end of service.

  • Leave entitlement is 41 days per year (inclusive of public holidays).

  • Should you wish to take family a reimbursement payment from the company for up to 2 children is also available (up to 40,000 QR for a Primary School child and 60,000 QR for Secondary School education).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Pre deployment

  • All documents relating to work visa & residency will need to be attested by the Qatari Embassy in the country of issue and then by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • All managerial tagged roles require attested evidence of a bachelor degree
  • Application for family sponsorship process can not start until employee holds residency permit.
  • Any employees wishing to sponsor family will need to earn a minimum of QAR 12,000 (male sponsor) or QAR 15,000 (female sponsor) a month, demonstrate 6 months earnings and hold an attested university degree or equivalent.
  • Residency permit process requires medical examination consisting of blood tests, x-rays, electronic finger printing. This process can take 2 - 6 weeks and you can not leave Qatar during this time.
  • To enter Qatar your passport must have at least 6 months validity.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Immigration, residency and tax

Immigration

All consular/embassy costs associated with immigration documentation attestation will be reimbursed.


Documentation required:

  • Degree certificates (or equivalent) attested by Qatari Embassy in issuing country plus supporting letter from issuing University
  • Marriage certificates (if applicable)
  • Children's birth certificates (if applicable)


Entry visa

Upon arrival in Qatar you will be issued a Single Entry Visa - this acts as your initial entry clearance & a temporary work visa. 

Residency 

All costs associated with the work visa & RP process will be funded.


Residency permit documentation required:

  • Legalised qualification certificates & attested degree transcript for management roles (not required for supervisor roles)
  • Local contract of employment
  • Medical - blood test & x-rays

Family visits

Families can visit on tourist visas (1-3 months) or short term Family Visit visas (up to 6 months). You will be responsible for any costs associated with family visits. 

Family residency

Family residency can be applied for providing employees meet the conditions regarding earnings and qualifications. 


From arrival in country it can take up to 8 months to secure family residency.


Please note children can not be enrolled in school until they have their RP / ID.


Driving licence 

For those who hold a valid UK driving license, the company will fund the cost of employees of obtaining a Qatari license 

  • Employees can drive on their British/ International licence until their RP is processed.
  • When RP granted apply directly for a Qatari license.
  • UK nationals do not have to take the practical and written tests for driving in Qatar.

Taxation

Employees are responsible for any liability for income tax or local taxes 

  • Contract in line with Qatari taxation law - currently tax free
  • Completion of PSS forms - UK NT status 
  • There may be a requirement to complete a UK Tax Return for some or all of your time overseas
  • Employees will need to monitor their days in the UK to ensure they do not create a UK tax liability
